Transferring a generic domain name
www.

Requirements
To initiate the transfer of a domain name .COM .NET .MOBI .BIZ .INFO .MOBI .NAME or .ORG, you will be asked to provide an authorization code (AuthID). You can obtain this from your current reseller or your domain name's registrar.

In order to proceed with the transfer, this authorisation code must be valid and the domain must not be protected against transfers. The administrative contact and owner of the domain name must also accept the transfer.

Different stages
Once your order has been confirmed, we will send a transfer request to your domain name's current registrar with the autorization code. It the latter accepts, we will ask the admin contact as well as the owner by email for acceptance, to confirm the request. Both must approve the request and reply within 5 days.

  • If all replies are positive within 5 days, the transfer will be carried out.
  • If no reply is received within 5 days, your request will be cancelled
  • If a refusal from the owner or admin contact is received, your request will be cancelled.

In the event of refusal and if the domain is still transferable, we can re-launch the procedure as many times as it is necessary in order to proceed with the transfer successfully.

Once the transfer has been finalised, the domain name's expiration date is extended for a one-year period. For example, if the domain expires on the 12/31/2008 and if the transfer is carried out on the 09/15/2008, the new expiration date will then be the 12/31/2009.

   Important Information

  • Deadline for transfer: from 1 to 2 weeks before your domain name's expiration date
  • Ideal date for transfer: 4 weeks before expiration of your domain name
  • The owner's e-mail address and the admin's e-mail address must be valid in order to receive the confirmation request emailed from the registry. Otherwise, the transfer cannot be carried out.
  • The domain name must be in ACTIVE status, i.e. the protection from transfers (Registrar-Lock or TransferProhibited) must be disabled with the current provider of the domain name, otherwise the transfer will be refused. This point can be checked by carrying out a whois on the domain name.
  • The domain name cannot have been registered within the last 60 days or renewed within the last 45 days
