Custom DNS management
What is a DNS ?
The Domain Naming Service (DNS) is used to establish the correspondence between your site's domain name (e.g.: netim.fr) and the IP address where it is hosted (e.g.: 213.244.184.122) on the Internet.
A DNS server is therefore a machine that makes this correspondence possible. A domain name must have at least two different DNS servers: a primary one and a secondary one
If you already have a web hosting for your site, you can use those of your host. Otherwise, you can use ours in order to benefit from our free services including domain name parking.
Custom DNS service ?
With this service, you can configure the domain's settings and control the definition of the DNS zone. DNS records can be created, of the type:
- A, correspondence of a host towards a Fixed IP (i.e. a subdomain)
- CNAME, correspondence for an alias on a host
- MX, definition of mail servers ( Mail exchanger )
- NS, definition of name servers
- PTR, pointer
- TXT, information records (i.e. SPF records)
You can then delegate your sub domains to other DNS servers, define MX records to run your own mailserver or set the SPF Records. it is also possible to set the SOA records to fit your needs (TTL, Refresh, Retry, Expire, Minimum)
