There are no special conditions for registering a .LV domain name. If your .LV domain name is still available, you can register it without any restrictions whether you are a company, organisation or private individual. You do not need to reside in Latvia or, for companies, be set up in Latvia.

  Caution the proposed domain name can't be:

  • the registered trade mark of another institution (CTM). The registry reserves the right to postpone the registration of such a domain name or to demand contributing evidence of the applicant’s right to the domain name. Please check the domain name at http://oami.europa.eu
    However, if the registration is rejected by the registry, you can register the domain name if you submit a written consent stating that you will surrender the registered domain name at the first request by the rightful owners of the registered name.
  • the name of a geographical locality or object. The names of towns, villages or parishes can be used only by their self-government bodies.
  • a person’s name in Latvia

Renewal:

A renewal extends the domain name for one year. Renewal procedures must be carried out before the domain's expiration date otherwise the domain will switch to quarantine status for a 30 day period before being removed. During this status, the domain is no longer active but can still be restored.
