Registration:

All of the following people can register the .FI domain name of their choice, the owner (applicant) must be:


  • a person of at least 15 years of age who has a Finnish Personal Identity Number and is resident in Finland
    Beware: a natural person can only register a domain name with the same name. For example, Jane Smith may apply for a domain name that is a combination similar to the following: janesmith.fi, smithjane.fi, and so on.

  • a legal entity, resident in Finland, like:
    - a company entered in the Finnish Trade Register, the Finnish Register of Associations or the Finnish Register of Foundations
    - a Finnish public corporation, an independent public service, a public association
    Beware: the domain name must be closed to the name of the legal entity

Renewal:

A renewal extends the domain name for 3 years. Renewal procedures must be carried out before the domain's expiration date otherwise the domain will be removed.
